Stevenson hit a snag in May and it lasted through most of June. His swing path went haywire, and the average and power went south. Since June 26, however, he's hit .271/.406/.593 with 16 homers, though the swing-and-miss is probably part of why he's not yet in Double-A. Defensively, he's more than sound, and there's a chance he's a No. 1 catcher with average or better everything.

The season's two defining numbers pull in opposite directions, and both are his: 22 home runs and 98 walks. Stevenson finished at .243/.405/.488 in High-A in his age-21 season, a .245 isolated slugging alongside a 20.7% walk rate and a 162-point gap between his average and his on-base percentage. The power showed up in a year he also refused to expand the zone — and the discipline held even when nothing else did. In June he hit .148 and still reached base at a .365 clip, which was his lowest on-base month of the season.

The snag shows up exactly where you place it. From May 1 through June 25 he hit .172/.363/.351 across 179 plate appearances, with the power flat — five home runs and a .179 isolated slugging — after opening April at .321/.500/.482\. The average and the slug went; the walks did not.

Then it broke open. From June 26 through the end of the log on September 6, he hit .271/.406/.593 with 16 home runs in 217 plate appearances and a .322 ISO. July was the peak: .338/.433/.753 with eight homers and a .416 ISO in 90 trips.

The swing-and-miss is the honest counterweight, and it is real. His strikeout rate went from 19.0% in Single-A in 2025 to 29.3% in High-A, and his swinging-strike rate rose from 7.5% to 11.2%. It also got worse as the power arrived — 26.8% through June 25, 32.3% after — which is the tradeoff the whole profile now turns on. He struck out 139 times and walked 98, and 25 of his games included multiple walks.

He also carried the position. Over the stretch of the season where the log records where he played, he caught 49 of 66 games and took the other 17 at designated hitter.
