Lucas has yet to make his debut, but has good athleticism and bat speed, and his chances to stay at third are good.

With no professional at-bats yet, the college file is the whole case, and it is better than the ranking slot suggests. Across two seasons at UNC Wilmington, Lucas came to the plate 531 times, hit 21 home runs, and drew about as many walks as he took strikeouts — roughly 80 of each. As a junior it was 38 walks against 35 strikeouts.

Everything moved forward between the two years. His average went from .265 to .312, his on-base from .395 to .429, his slugging from .457 to .556, and his wRC+ from 111 to 140, while his strikeout rate fell from 16.5% to 13.5%. There is no category in which he was worse as a junior than as a sophomore.

The game log says it was not a hot streak carrying a season. Split his 58 games down the middle and the halves are nearly interchangeable: .306 with six home runs across the first 29, .318 with six home runs across the last 29\. He reached base in 51 of 58 games, including a 19-game on-base streak from March 27 through April 26.

The strikeouts are rare in a specific way. He finished 32 of his 58 games without one, struck out more than once in only eight, and reached three exactly once all spring. There was a stretch from April 21 through May 2 where he played six straight games without a strikeout.

One thing the season line hides. Lucas was hitting .341 on May 14 with six games left. He went 1-for-20 the rest of the way and finished at .312\. The number on his page reflects a week, not a season.

What the numbers cannot address is the part your blurb covers — the athleticism, the bat speed, whether third base holds. Worth noting he did not attempt a stolen base all season, so whatever the athleticism is, it is not showing up on the bases.
